Levi Colwill is a real voice in the dressing room at Chelsea now that his status as a first team starter is established. He is often one of the players chosen to speak out by the club website, and that’s just what he did today, issuing a rallying cry after two bad results in a row.

“We have to keep moving. December has been a tough month, with a lot of games, and we have another game in three days, so we have to keep going. We’re not where everyone expects to be, realistically. We still have a lot to improve on,” the defender said after dropped points against Everton and Fulham ended up being a stinging blow to the team’s morale.

“We have to keep pushing. We don’t have time to let our heads drop. We have to keep moving and keep improving together.”

“It’s going to hurt the momentum, but we can build it back up. We weren’t lying when we said we weren’t in the race. This is a realisation we’re not there yet. We will just try to keep picking up three points.

“We’re a very young team with a lot of confidence. We will be there again, don’t worry. We will keep going for the next game and get three points there.”

Unlike many of his colleagues, Colwill is not getting a rest anytime soon. He’s missed just one Premier League game this season, and with injuries to Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana ongoing, isn’t getting another break anytime soon.

All this experience is serving him well however, and it’s clear to hear from the quotes like the ones above that he’s developing into a real leader too.
