Wednesday's Champions League tips include backing 9/5 Man City and 5/1 Chelsea Bet Builder

Paul Higham is jumping on the Bodo/Glimt bandwagon in Wednesday's Champions League tips, and also siding with 9/5 Man City in the Bernabeu and backing a 5/1 Chelsea Bet Builder at PSG.

Bayer Leverkusen v Arsenal Tip - A trademark Gunners display

The Gunners are still on for the quadruple and Bayer Leverkusen aren't expected to be much of a speed bump with Arsenal 1/8 to progress and even 11/20 to win this first leg in Leverkusen - with the hosts huge 5/1 underdogs despite just two defeats in 19 home European games.

Arsenal have sailed through so far, not trailing at any point in this season's Champions League while Bayer have had a bit of everything, mixing that upset 2-0 win at Man City with a 2-2 home draw with Newcastle and 7-2 hammering by PSG.

Their recent success has been built on defence - they've got five clean sheets in six at home and three on the spin in the UCL and they'll look for something similar here. Mikel Arteta will be looking for a trademark display and a low-scoring win built around set pieces - with a clean sheet the focus.

Bodo/Glimt v Sporting Tip - Jump on the Bodo bandwagon

What Bodo/Glimt have done this season is frankly outrageous - winning four Champions League games in a row against Man City, Atletico and then two against Inter is an incredible run. And the draw has given them a chance too as they're 17/10 to make the quarter-finals with Sporting still 4/9 favourites.

The Portuguese giants must be fearing their trip to Norway though and there's not much to split them in the first leg - the hosts being 13/8 and away side 31/20. Sporting won just one away game in the group but they did have tough fixtures at Bayern, Napoli and Juventus.

Both sides should bring goals - Bodo have scored 14 in six and Sporting average over two goals a game in the UCL while they've only got on clean sheet between them in the Champions League proper so both teams to score looks a near certainty.

I'm not convinced they can get through the tie but at home with the form and confidence they'll have then why not jump on the Bodo bandwagon while we can.

PSG v Chelsea Tip - Back 5/1 stats Bet Builder in Paris

This is not the same PSG side that won the Champions League last year, as shown by them only just scraping past Monaco in the play-offs despite playing against 10 men in both legs. They're still 8/11 to progress though and 19/20 to win this first leg against 14/5 match underdogs Chelsea.

Liam Rosenior's men look to have a great chance then although considering Chelsea's disciplinary problems of late the 21/10 on there being a red card in Paris may not be the worst bet in a game that could go either way. PSG have had two men sent off themselves and have seen four of their opponents dismissed.

I'm going on that theme for a Bet Builder in this one since we've got the Bet £10 Get £10 offer on the Sportsbook to go at - starting with Chelsea to have most cards and also to committ 12+ fouls at the Parc des Princes.

PSG have only seen three cards (2 yellow, 1 red) at home in five games, while Chelsea have given away at least 13 fouls in six of eight, against a team that's been fouled 115 times in 10 games then there should be another decent number here.

Shots on target wise, Chelsea have over five per game while PSG have been prolific with an average of 7.7 per Champions League game and at least five in every one, so going with 4+ for each team actually looks like a safe play.

Real Madrid v Man City Tip - City too strong for injury-hit Real

Here we go again, the now annual Real Madrid v Man City meeting in the Champions League knockouts for the fifth year running! Real have progressed four times while in the individual games the Spaniards have a W3 D3 L2 record - with City evening things up with a pretty commanding group stage win last December.

Pep Guardiola's men are 1/1 favourites to win again in the Bernabeu while Madrid are 5/2 underdogs after a largely unconvincing campaign in Europe and domestically - but we all know they're a different animal in these Champions League knockouts.

This fixture's been laced with goals with eight of the last nine seeing both teams score and five of them going over 3.5 goals, and that's with largely much better defences than either have shown this season, so expect more of the same here.

I don't fancy Matheus Nunes much up against Vinicius Jr but the Brazilian has a lot resting on his shoulders with Real's crippling injury list - as superstars Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham are out, joining Rodrygo, who has scored five goals in eight games against Man City, and the likes of defensive duo Eder Militao and David Alaba, Alvaro Carreras and Dani Ceballos - with Eduardo Camavinga also a doubt.

That's not only a long injury list but one packed with star names for Alvaro Arbeloa to deal with, and that looks the crucial factor against a rested Erling Haaland, in-form Antoine Semenyo and a host of attacking accomplices Guardiola can call upon. This looks like wrong time, wrong place for Real.
