Charleroi have announced that striker Vakoun Bayo is re-joining the club on loan, just months after he left for Watford. The 26-year-old Ivorian striker scored four goals in 24 league matches for the Hornets this season, while also grabbing one assist. The former Celtic striker was on loan at Charleroi for the second half of last season from Gent, who had signed him in the summer of 2021. In 16 loan matches the striker scored 11 goals.
Charleroi took up the purchase option they had agreed with Gent, before then selling the player on to Watford. Bayo had failed to score in seven matches for the Buffaloes, but during his time at Charleroi he was one of the in form strikers in the Belgian Pro League.
During his time with Celtic the striker saw similar numbers to those at Watford, with four goals in 17 matches. He was loaned to Toulouse for the 2020/2021 season, where he managed 13 goals in 36 games. Charleroi have been looking for a striker to replace Bayo all season, but now it appears that they have settled on bringing the forward back to the club.
The side had been in discussions to sign Monaco striker Willem Geubbels, however the 21-year-old joined FC St Gallen instead.
