Celtic this evening completed the long awaited signing of Egyptian international Haissem Hassan on a four year deal, with the option of a further year, with the club reportedly paying Real Oviedo upwards of £9 million for the 24 year old.

Hassan, who ran then World Champions Argentina ragged in the round of 16, becomes Martin O’Neill’s third summer signing.

The signing of the talented winger who represented France at youth level now means that the club have spent £26 million this window, with all of that sum being invested in attackers.

Granted we’ve lost the talented and popular Daizen Maeda, but we’ve eased that blow by adding some serious quality to the attacking third in Camilo Duran, Kasper Hogh, and now of course Haissem Hassan.

We now have a great depth in an area that was dangerously thin last season, with the likes of Sebastian Tounekti, Callum Osmand, Yang, and James Forrest also present alongside our new £26 million front three.

Haissem Hassan is a player who is made for Celtic football club. A tricky winger who likes to take players on, a throwback to the winger of yesteryear. I guess you can call him a real ‘bums off seats’ player. He’s the sort of talent that we’ve been craving for quite some time.

The Paris born attacker who’s also played for Villarreal and Sporting Gijon, could make his debut in Saturday’s Premier Sports Cup clash against Dundee United, and can also be named in the upcoming Champions league play off ties with Austrian Champions LASK, giving us a further boost in our bid to reach the money laden group stages.

Looking forward to the nextchapter of his career in the Hoops, Haissem said: to Celtic FC website: “It is a great moment and a real honour for me join Celtic, a phenomenal club with such a brilliant history and wonderful supporters.”

Martin O’Neill said: “We are delighted to bring Haissem to Celtic and I think the club has done really well to secure a player of such quality, with a number of other clubs interested in him.

“He is someone who I think has the ability and experience to do very well for us, performing at a high level in domestic and international football.”

Big things will naturally be expected of the Egyptian, especially after his World Cup performances, but he’s a player who has performed at the highest level, so we should have no concerns over his ability to shine in our famous green and white hoops.

Welcome to Celtic Haissem Hassan, may your stay be a successful one, god willing.
