According to NY Times, Welcome To Wrexham’s crew have intensified plans to film Wrexham’s FA Cup last-16 home tie with Chelsea, shaping storylines and logistics since the draw.

Planning began on Monday, February 16, with UK and US teams coordinating and club operations staff consulted so football comes first. With series five nearing, the Emmy-winning show has devoted careful thought to Saturday’s coverage.

Matchday will feature a three-person unit in the home dressing room with a fixed camera and a roaming operator to the pitch. A long-lens post and two roaming operators will capture fans, with fan-cams issued. If Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac attend, Nick Mattingly and Ed Edwards will film in the Betty Buzz Suite.

The scale reflects Wrexham’s rise. A little under two months after knocking out Nottingham Forest on penalties in the third round, they now host Chelsea, six-time English champions, twice European champions, Club World Cup winners and eight-time FA Cup winners.

The series has chronicled promotions over Boreham Wood in 2023, Forest Green Rovers in 2024 and Charlton Athletic in 2025, plus cup ties with Coventry City and Sheffield United, and marquee league days such as the 3-1 defeat at Birmingham City.

This season has delivered late drama, with nine stoppage-time goals including Ollie Palmer’s Carabao Cup double against Hull City, equalisers by Ollie Rathbone and Max Cleworth, and a 3-2 turnaround at Queens Park Rangers inside 99 seconds.
