Werder boss: Hoffenheim’s first Stage offer “not in line with market value” | OneFootball

After agreeing personal terms with Jens Stage, TSG Hoffenheim made an initial offer – reportedly in the €10 million region – which was rejected by the player’s club, Werder Bremen.

Speaking to Kicker, Werder chairman Klaus Filbry confirms the bid, saying it was simply too low for the club to consider a sale.

“First and foremost, Jens is under a long-term contract with us. It is true that Hoffenheim made an offer, but it was not in line with market value and is therefore not something we need to engage with further," he said.

Werder recently received a reported €15 million from the sale of Mio Backhaus to SC Freiburg, easing any immediate financial pressure to sell Stage, whose deal expires in 2028.

“There are now hardly any clubs in the Bundesliga that are not dependent on transfer income. However, we are generally in a strong position and don't have to approve every transfer,” Filbry added.

It remains to be seen whether Hoffenheim will return with an improved offer for Stage, who has been identified as the club's preferred replacement for Stuttgart-bound Grischa Prömel.
