As reported by Bild, Werder Bremen have shown interest in Philadelphia Union midfielder Leon Flach.
The 22-year-old would be considered a versatile option for Die Werderaner as he can play across the midfield, as well as being experienced at left-back. This could be where Bremen identify Flach being utilised as the Green and Whites are searching to find a reliable starting left-back with Lee Buchanan linked with a loan away from the club.
Flach is a product of the St. Pauli academy, however, he made the move to the MLS in 2021 to join his current club Philadelphia Union. It is reported that the American side would consider an offer in the region of €3m for Flach this summer,
So far this season, Flach has appeared 16 times for the Union where he has collected one assist, featuring solely from central midfield. Flach has also represented both America and Germany at international level, however, he has yet to receive a maiden senior call-up after last appearing for the US U20 side in 2020.
While there has not been an agreement yet, the talks between both clubs have been positive. Flach would be the third signing of Bremen’s summer transfer window after both Naby Keïta and Dawid Kownacki were acquired as free transfers.
