Werder issue update on Felix Agu after new injury blow

Werder Bremen have issued an update after Felix Agu suffered a fresh injury in the warm-up on Sunday.

Named in the starting line-up for the 2-1 Bundesliga defeat to St. Pauli, the 26-year-old had to pull out before kick-off. The club said an MRI has confirmed a muscular adductor injury.

It is another setback for the left-back.

“In the situation we currently find ourselves in, every player ruled out makes things even more difficult. Felix had only just recovered from his syndesmosis injury. We hope he can be back as soon as possible,” said head coach Daniel Thioune.

Werder sit 17th in the Bundesliga ahead of this weekend’s home meeting with bottom-placed 1. FC Heidenheim.
