The Green-Whites began brightly and created the first chance of the game after just five minutes. Larissa Mühlhaus’ effort from close range was saved by goalkeeper Kim Thanh Tran, before Lina Hausicke couldn’t get make clean contact on the rebound. The deadlock was broken with a quarter of an hour played, with Maja Sternad bursting down the right and crossing for Ricarda Walkling in the middle, who volleyed home. Following the opening goal, Werder failed to take advantage of their dominance as they were unable to create more chances to score.

Thomas Horsch’s side rediscovered their scoring touch after the break. After substitute Sophie Weidauer saw her shot saved, Larissa Mühlhaus was on hand to double SVW’s lead (50’). The hosts missed a big chance to reduce the deficit, but their captain Hai Yen Pham couldn’t find the target from inside the six-yard box (57’). At the other end, Mühlhaus headed a Tuana Mahmoud corner onto the post (58’).

The game was more open as it went on and that allowed substitute Minh Chuyen Ngoc to get Vietnam's first goal (65’). Werder made sure they secured the win with two late goals: Mühlhaus once again showed her prowess from set pieces, scoring directly from a free-kick (81’), before Emöke Papai ran in behind and made no mistake in the fourth minute of stoppage time. SVW will return to Germany on Sunday, 18th May.
