Cole Palmer believes Chelsea’s performance against Bayern Munich was deserving of a better result.

The Blues were beaten 3-1 at the Allianz Arena, with Trevoh Chalobah scoring an own goal before Harry Kane netted a double.

Palmer had pulled the score back to 2-1 with a fine finish, and the Blues attacker believes the result was harsh on his side.

“I feel like we deserved more, to be honest,” Palmer told TNT Sports.

“We started well, I think we had early chances to score, but when you make mistakes at the highest level then it’s always difficult to come back in any game.

“Maybe just a bit of a lack of concentration and not managing the moments correctly.

“But I think we’ve shown that we can play against one of the best teams in the competition. I think we deserved more.

“The manager said before he knows we can go toe to toe (with the best teams) and I think we showed that tonight despite the result. But it’s a good learning curve and to be back in the competition is nice so we just need to kick on from here.”

Palmer, however, insists Chelsea are not seeing this competition as a “learning curve” and are in it to compete for the trophy.

“We’re not here to be a learning curve,” he added. “I feel like tonight we’ve shown we can compete and we want to do as best as we can.”
