Marseille left it late at La Meinau on Friday night but Amir Murillo’s stoppage-time strike secured a 2-1 victory over Strasbourg – their third consecutive win in Ligue 1 – and lifted Roberto De Zerbi’s side to the top of the table, at least provisionally. The Panamanian right-back had been left out of the last two league games yet was decisive on his return. “We knew it would be a difficult game against a good team with physical and technical players. But we managed to take three very important points,” Murillo told La Provence post-match. “It was important to win to keep our confidence after Paris and before Ajax. We’re sending a message to the whole of Ligue 1 that we can do things well.”

There’s no time to rest on their laurels for Marseille, who immediately begin preparations to face AFC Ajax in the UEFA Champions League next weekend before facing a trip to Metz the following weekend. GFFN | George Boxall
