Wesley Sneijder has discussed Memphis and reflected on his own links with Brazilian football. Talks between the forward and Corinthians are now at draft-exchange stage, with only legal adjustments pending before a new deal is signed.
"Memphis Depay, no. Van Dijk maybe the only one, but not at this moment," he said, speaking to ESPN's F Show.
"Memphis is a very good striker, but the problem is that he has many physical issues and cannot play a World Cup at such a high level."
"Football in Brazil is growing. I had an option to play there and in the end I chose not to go. The level is high, better than the Netherlands, and a team called me every day, though I do not remember which, I think it was from São Paulo, they remember."
Corinthians expect to have Memphis available for the Copa Libertadores last 16 first leg against Rosario Central in Argentina next Thursday at 21:30, and he is already registered.
