Tammer Bany's injury nightmare at West Brom is showing no sign of ending, with the forward facing another long spell on the sidelines.

West Bromwich Albion forward Tammer Bany will miss most of the rest of the season after suffering another injury setback.

After a bright start to the season, it has been a frustrating few months for West Brom, with a run of eight consecutive away defeats seeing them fall away from the play-off places and into the bottom half of the table.

However, the Baggies' home form has remained strong throughout the campaign, and they enjoyed another successful evening at The Hawthorns as they picked up a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Monday night, with goals from George Campbell and Nat Phillips sealing a much-needed three points to ease the pressure on head coach Ryan Mason.

Albion currently sit 16th in the table, seven points from the play-off places, and they make the trip to Swansea City on New Year's Day before travelling to Leicester City on Monday night as the busy festive period continues.

With a packed schedule in January, Mason will be keen to keep his squad as fit as possible to maximise his options, but he will be without the services of Bany for the majority of the remainder of the season following his latest injury blow.

Bany joined West Brom from Danish side Randers for a fee in the region of £3.3 million on the final day of the winter transfer window, but it is fair to say that Baggies supporters have yet to see the best of him during his time at The Hawthorns.

After arriving in February, Bany made just four substitute appearances for Albion in the second half of last season due to persistent hamstring issues, and while he would have been hoping for a fresh start this campaign, that has certainly not proven to be the case.

Bany missed the first three months of the season after picking up another hamstring injury in the summer, and he made his return as a late substitute in the 3-1 defeat at QPR earlier this month, but he has not featured for the Baggies since.

The 22-year-old, who made his debut for the Jordan national team in November, has been absent from Albion's last two matchday squads, and the club have now confirmed that he is set for an extended period on the sidelines.

The Baggies revealed on Tuesday that Bany will be out for around four months with a ruptured thigh he sustained in training last week, which means he could potentially miss the rest of the season, and he will now undergo surgery to fix the problem.

Having impressed during his time in Denmark, Bany looked to be an exciting signing for West Brom, but his spell at The Hawthorns has been nothing short of a disaster.

Bany has made just five appearances for the Baggies in almost a year, and while his injury problems are unfortunate, he is in danger of being viewed as a serious transfer flop, which will be particularly frustrating for the board given the significant fee they spent on him.

With Bany out for the rest of the campaign, Albion are facing a major dilemma over whether to cash in on the forward in the summer or give him another opportunity to prove his fitness next season, but even if they were to sell him, it is likely they would have to accept a sizeable loss on the £3.3 million they paid in February.
