The Baggies defeated Swansea City in the FA Cup third round via a penalty shootout on Sunday, after initially playing out a 2-2 draw in South Wales.

Interim boss James Morrison successfully guided the Black Country outfit through to the fourth round, where West Brom could enjoy a lucrative clash with a Premier League giant, but Ramsay is now keen to hit the ground running in the Championship.

Ramsay's first game in charge at The Hawthorns is a tough fixture, as his side face automatic promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough on Friday.

West Brom's poor form in the Championship sees them sitting just 18th in the second tier, so Ramsay needs to have a strong January transfer window to help him propel his new club up the table.

Meanwhile, according to The Mirror's live transfer blog at 09.45 on Monday, the Baggies could move to reunite Minnesota United midfielder Triantis with his former boss.

Ramsay was in charge of the MLS outfit for two years before joining the Championship club on Sunday.

Triantis spent the 2025 MLS campaign playing under Ramsay at Minnesota, notching three goals and two assists in 10 appearances across all competitions.

The 22-year-old was previously employed by Sunderland from 2023 to 2025, but he spent the majority of his career with the North East club on loan at Scottish Premiership side Hibernian.

Triantis has had a varied football career to date, even though he is still a youngster, and his experience suggests that he can help West Brom in the Championship.

The former Sunderland man previously played youth international football for Australia, and also began his club career in the Southern Hemisphere, plying his trade for Western Sydney Wanderers and Central Coast Mariners.

Thanks to his previous stint with the Black Cats, Triantis has three Championship appearances on his CV, while he has also played in the EFL Cup.

More recently, the central midfielder displayed his creativity while on loan with Hibernian in the 2024/25 season, scoring three goals and producing six assists in the Scottish Premiership.

Triantis hit new heights with Ramsey at Minnesota, notching five goal contributions in just 10 appearances, and he will hope to make a similar impact at West Brom, should he complete his return to England.

The former Hibs star has also made a senior appearance for Greece, further demonstrating his ability to perform at a high level.

Ramsay's men could struggle in their upcoming clash with Middlesbrough, but fixtures against Norwich City, Derby County, and Portsmouth later this month may prove more fruitful for the Baggies.

The Canaries and Pompey are both in relegation danger, but West Brom's poor form under former boss Ryan Mason suggests that they may need new signings, such as Triantis, to help them overcome such challenges.
