The Baggies could have a potential star of the future on their hands.

West Bromwich Albion striker Eseosa Sule is reportedly open to staying with the club despite interest from Newcastle United, Brentford and AFC Bournemouth.

Finding a consistent threat in front of goal has been something of an issue for Albion over recent seasons. They thought that they'd found one in Josh Maja, who has scored 12 goals in 26 Championship appearances this season, but the Nigerian international's inability to stay fit has left them wanting for the second half of the term.

There is a hope that one day Sule, another of their Nigerian forwards, who is also eligible to represent Scotland, may be able to lead the line for the Baggies one day.

Like Maja, he has posted an impressive goal-scoring record this season, finding the back of the net in the Premier League 2 once every time games on average and 13 times overall this season.

Sule, 19, has made his first-team debut for the club. He played 18 minutes for former boss Carlos Corberan against Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup, but he is yet to appear in any major competitions for the Championship side.

Eseosa Sule is open to staying with West Brom despite national & international interest

He is out of contract at the end of this season and is reportedly not short of suitors, which comes as no surprise given his record at the youth level.

Sule is open to staying with his current club beyond the end of this season, though, according to Soccernet, who also believe that Premier League sides Bournemouth, Brentford and Newcastle, as well as Ligue 1's Lyon, are interested in acquiring the teenager.

West Brom would be entitled to some level of compensation should Sule, an academy product, decide to go elsewhere, but it would be a small amount compared to what he may be worth in years to come.

The player's agent, Yusuf Bamba, recently told Africafoot that the forward will not be quick to make any big decisions on his future and that he has been impressed by his client's improvements while with the Baggies.

"Look at his development at West Brom — he has been incredible," said Sule's agent. "There’s a chance he could stay if an agreement is reached.

"The interest from big teams is tempting, but we will not work on the spur of the moment. The project must absolutely be the right one for his continued development."

West Brom could do with some more successful academy products

In a world of Profit and Sustainability Rules, clubs selling on players that they have developed from a young age can be crucial to developing the team.

Someone like Tom Fellows, who did come through the Albion academy, has delivered in the first-team for them and now may make them a lot of money this summer, with clubs like Everton reportedly interested in him.

Selling him will allow West Brom to hugely increase their budget this summer, and if Sule stays at the club and goes on to do something similar, then that will be a huge boost for the club.
