Albion goalkeeper Josh Griffiths is closing in on a move to Championship rivals Stoke City, ending almost 15 years with the Baggies as James Morrison reshapes his goalkeeping options.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Stoke want cover and competition for first-choice Viktor Johansson, who is at the World Cup with Sweden. Griffiths, who turns 25 in September, is their target.
Albion handed January arrival Max O'Leary a new three-year contract last month, and with Griffiths poised to leave there will be further recruitment in goal.
Stoke goalkeeping coach Darren Behcet has recommended the Hereford-born stopper. Griffiths has a year left on the Albion deal he signed in 2024.
He started last season as first choice but, despite some strong displays, was dropped by then head coach Ryan Mason in December after errors.
Griffiths regained the shirt from Joe Wildsmith the following month, before the club brought in Republic of Ireland international O'Leary to strengthen the position.
He has made 45 first-team appearances for Albion and has almost 200 senior outings including loans at Cheltenham, Lincoln, Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers.
Wildsmith left The Hawthorns on a free transfer this summer. Academy goalkeepers Joe Wallis, 21, and Ben Cisse, 20, are well regarded by staff.
Stoke, now led by former Coventry boss Mark Robins, finished 17th last season, four places and four points above Albion. Albion return to training on Thursday.
