West Bromwich Albion are interested in SK Brann midfielder Felix Horn Myhre this summer

West Bromwich Albion have already made five additions this summer under the leadership of James Morrison, but the Baggies don't look to be done just yet.

Having narrowly survived relegation by the skin of their teeth last time around, West Brom will be more than keen to ensure they don't find themselves in a similar position anytime soon.

James Morrison's role in keeping the club afloat has seen him awarded the permanent role in The Hawthorns dugout, as the Scot has been busy working alongside his recruitment team to reshape the first team squad.

Each of Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Barney Stewart, Carter Pinnington, Conor Townsend, and most recently Nolan Galves have penned permanent deals in the Black Country ahead of this season.

However, more work looks likely to be done between now and the end of the window, as the Baggies have returned their attentions to Norway after previous success stories.

For the last quarter of a century, West Brom's recruitment strategy has generally been excellent, as prior to last campaign, the Baggies had never finished as low as the bottom half of the second tier since the year 2000.

Whilst supporters will be hoping last year was just a blip and nothing more, those behind the scenes at The Hawthorns have been working tirelessly to identify potential recruits this summer.

Having found success in the Scandinavian market with both Torbjørn Heggem and Aune Heggebo recently, the Baggies are looking to utilise this market again, with a move for SK Brann midfielder Felix Horn Myhre, according to Norwegian outlet Bergens Tidende.

Heggem was signed from Swedish outfit IF Brommapojkarna for under £600k in the summer, and was sold a year later to Bologna for around £10 million, whilst Heggebo joined from Horn Myhre's current club, SK Brann, last summer for around £4.75 million, and showed glimpses of his potential.

Horn Myrhe, 27, is not especially young, and has never played professional football outside of Norway during his career, though he has played in all three UEFA European competitions at qualifying level.

With 32 goals and 39 assists in 179 games across all competitions to date for SK Brann as a midfielder, Horn Myrhe is a threat in all phases of play, and has shown his willingness to push forwards and contribute to goal.

Only Isaac Price in the current Baggies squad has shown regular capability of scoring goals from midfield, with both Jayson Molumby and Ousmane Diakite shining in the more defensive area of the game.

Adding Horn Myrhe to the mix would provide another strong option in the centre of the pitch for Morrison, with at least one or two more additions needed in that area before the end of the window.

Spanish outfit Elche have made a bid in the region of £2.3 million for the 27-year-old, as West Brom weigh up whether to launch their own bid or not.

The Scandinavian market appears to be one the Baggies are increasingly pursuing, as Horn Myhre enters their radar.

Indeed, Horn Myhre and Heggebo will know each other well from their time together at Brann, and the striker could well play a crucial role in negotiations.

European interest has been prevalent in the Norwegian, with Celtic having indeed been linked with a move for Horn Myhre. However, West Brom will be confident in their ability to get this deal over the line, nevertheless.

West Brom have recently been linked with a loan move for Aston Villa midfielder George Hemmings, as this Baggies fan would much prefer Horn Myhre permanently instead.
