Wrexham and Bristol City were also among the clubs eyeing a deal with West Ham late in the window
West Brom, Norwich City and Middlesbrough all made late attempts to sign George Earthy from West Ham before the transfer window closed.
According to GiveMeSport, Wrexham were also among the clubs who chased the midfielder’s signature in the late stages of the summer market.
Earthy spent last season on loan with Bristol City, where he contributed three goals and one assist from 37 appearances in the Championship.
However, he has opted to instead remain with West Ham as he looks to fight for his place in Graham Potter’s first team plans in the Premier League.
It has been reported that a number of Championship sides made an attempt to lure Earthy away from West Ham late in the summer transfer window.
It’s believed that Norwich, West Brom and Middlesbrough all showed an interest in the playmaker, as well as former side Bristol City.
Wrexham were also among the clubs eyeing a move for the 20-year-old before Monday’s deadline.
But Earthy made the decision to remain at West Ham, with the player understood to be keen to fight for minutes under Potter at the London Stadium.
It’s been claimed that Phil Parkinson has been left frustrated with the lack of additional firepower brought in during the final stages of the market.
While the Red Dragons spent the summer bolstering their squad, the 57-year-old was still hoping to bring someone like Earthy into the side to offer some extra attacking edge.
Earthy earned praise for his performances in the Championship last season, with the youngster playing a role helping the Robins earn a top six finish.
He started 11 of his 37 regular league appearances, with Bristol City suffering defeat to Sheffield United in the play-offs under Liam Manning after earning a sixth place finish in the table.
Earthy proved himself as a Championship calibre player last year, and he is still young and has a lot of room still to improve further.
It’s no surprise there were a number of sides eyeing a possible move, as he could’ve been a very valuable late addition in the window.
However, his decision to try and fight for a place in the West Ham side is understandable, and he must be commended for his ambition.
It does leave him at the risk of missing out on potentially important game time for his development, and potentially a January move could be revisited if he is struggling to make it into Potter’s plans.
