Karlan Grant may leave West Brom at the end of the season, when his contract expires, now that he has suffered a hamstring injury.
West Bromwich Albion may already be gearing themselves for the exit of a long-serving player ahead of the summer.
The Baggies found themselves slipping into the Championship relegation zone after losing 3-0 to Portsmouth last Saturday, and have just a third of the season remaining to save their second-tier status.
Eric Ramsay has struggled since joining West Brom from Minnesota United last month, suffering three defeats in four games, including a 5-0 thrashing by Norwich City.
Former boss Ryan Mason was deservedly sacked by Albion following a run of 10 consecutive away defeats in the Championship, but Ramsay had gone on to steer his side to just one point from the first possible 12 available to him.

West Brom forward Karlan Grant suffered a hamstring injury during the Baggies' 1-1 draw with Derby County on 23 January and was consequently forced off in the eighth minute.
The 28-year-old began to hit form in the latter days of Mason's tenure, scoring in recent defeats to Southampton and Leicester City as well as a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United.
He was then handed starts in each of Ramsay's first three games in charge of Albion, although he could not help prevent his side's defeats against Middlesbrough and Norwich before his injury at Derby.
Grant's contract at The Hawthorns is set to expire this summer, which could mean that his West Brom career will end in cruel circumstances.
Even though the former Huddersfield Town man has not been in form for the majority of the season, his Championship experience suggests that he was capable of performing well at the business end of the season, and convincing the Baggies into handing him a new deal ahead of next term.
However, West Brom's official club website has confirmed that Grant will be sidelined for up to three months.
Therefore, by the time the forward is match sharp once again, the season may have already been and gone, which could prompt Albion to part company with the 28-year-old.

Grant signed for West Brom from Huddersfield back in 2020, and will be gutted if he played his last game for the Baggies without knowing it at the time, courtesy of his injury.
Should the Black Country club turn their fortunes around under Ramsay and steer themselves clear of relegation danger without the 28-year-old being available, it will likely lead them to part company with him.
Meanwhile, if Albion fail to avoid relegation, and instead suffer a drop to League One, the chances of Grant playing his football at The Hawthorns next season will surely be even lower as he searches for the potentially last lucrative contact in his career.
Grant has proven his worth as a Championship player for the Baggies over the years and would surely be keen to find a new second-tier club, rather than accepting the fate of relegation to the third tier. He has nearly 250 appearances to his name in the second-tier and, in his mind, will have served his time in League One earlier in his career. The fact he should be at his 'peak' years after injury only underlines that feeling he will want to be looking forward rather than backwards.
The 28-year-old's return of seven goals and two assists last season showed his class, and he also came agonisingly close to leading West Brom to a play-off spot.
