West Brom will be hopeful of a much more positive 2026-27 campaign after securing their Championship safety under James Morrison.

And in an attempt to get back into the promotion mix, the Black Country outfit have made early movements in the summer transfer window, securing three new signings to bolster the squad.

The Baggies kicked off their spending with the addition of forward Barney Stewart from Falkirk, then announcing the arrival of Liverpool defender Carter Pinnington, although the former Reds man will originally be placed into Albion’s U21’s setup for development.

Albion’s third and latest signing is of exciting Chelsea youngster Jimmy-Jay Morgan.

The England U20 international, like Stewart, has penned a four-year contract at The Hawthorns, with Albion spending an up-front fee of £1.3m, while add-ons could take it to as high as £4m.

It’ll be a surprise for Baggies fans to see the club starting the transfer window in such proactive fashion, with Morrison clearly keen on getting fresh faces into the building as early as possible, so they can have a full pre-season and shoot out of the traps from matchday one against Norwich City.

As well as their player spending, West Brom have recently dropped their new away kit for the 2026-27 season.

And as always, it has generated so much reaction from Albion supporters, who have voiced their thoughts on whether they think it’s a beauty or an eyesore.

Here at FLW, we bring you what Albion’s new away kit looks like and the fan reaction to it.

On Wednesday morning, West Brom revealed their new red away kit ahead of the 2026-27 season, with the strip a token to the club’s Black Country heritage.

The jersey has been designed by the club and its Technical Partner Macron, paying homage to the region’s rich history, with its release coming ahead of Black Country Day on the 14th July.

The shirt features an outline on both the front and back of the historic Red House Glass Cone in Wordsley, which survives as a memorial to the region’s industrial past.

The red, black and white colours represent the fire and embers of the glass industry, forged in the Black Country more than 200 years ago.

Albion’s famous ‘WBA’ italic crest is also seen on the collar of the kit, which will be donned by the Baggies on their travels over the course of the campaign.

The Baggies’ motto along with the kit reads: ‘Forged in the Black Country. Built together.’

As expected with a new kit drop, there is bound to be some mixed reaction, but Baggies supporters have responded fairly positively to this release.

There has been some disappointment over the fact Albion are back in red over the traditional green and yellow, while others appear frustrated that there isn’t a more impactful design and that it looks too simplistic.

But the clean-cut approach has got other Albion supporters waxing lyrical over it, with supporters hopeful that their Albion team can pick up many Championship victories on the road in their Black Country-inspired kit.

It is great to see the Baggies tying their local roots into the new kit, with all that’s needed now is a squad good enough to represent such a historic club and that hopefully help end their six-year exodus from the top-flight.
