The Baggies struggled for much of the campaign, but the 40-year-old helped to turn things around and avoid the drop after disastrous stints with Ryan Mason and briefly Eric Ramsay in charge.

Albion were at risk of being relegated to League One, but ultimately earned a 21st place finish, coming four points clear of Oxford United in 22nd.

It is set to be a busy summer ahead at the Hawthorns, as Morrison will have his first opportunity to shape the first team squad to his liking.

The former West Brom midfield starlet took charge in February, and was handed the permanent position after initially being appointed on an interim basis.

He oversaw four wins from 12 games, as well as six draws, which was enough to confirm their place in the Championship for another year.

It has been reported by journalist Pete O’Rourke that West Brom are in advanced talks to sign Jimmy-Jay Morgan from Chelsea.

The Baggies are leading the race to sign the forward, who spent the season on loan with Peterborough United in League One.

It’s believed that the Championship side are seeking a permanent deal for the 20-year-old, who has come through the ranks of the Chelsea academy system.

Morgan previously spent time on loan with Gillingham before signing temporarily with the Posh last summer.

He contributed 12 goals and three assists from 34 appearances in League One, with the club finishing 18th in the table.

It was reported earlier this year that a number of Championship sides were monitoring Morgan ahead of the summer window.

This included Sheffield United, Swansea City and Preston North End, but now West Brom are the front-runners to secure his signature.

Morgan has not featured for Chelsea since returning to the club from Southampton in 2023, having initially moved from Stamford Bridge to the Hampshire outfit in 2017.

West Brom are looking to bolster their attacking options for next season, with the team scoring just 48 times from 46 league fixtures this campaign.

Their top scorer was Aune Heggebo with a tally of only nine, with players like Josh Maja and Daryl Dike struggling to stay consistently fit.

It remains to be seen what kind of fee it will take to convince Chelsea to cash in on Morgan.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan signing has potential for West Brom

Morgan showed plenty of promise in League One this year, scoring 12 goals in a team that struggled for positive results on a consistent basis.

He could be ready to take the step up to the Championship, particularly as he is still only 20 and has plenty of time to still develop and improve.

The youngster gained valuable experience this year, and he will be joining a club that should be able to offer him regular football next season.

If Morgan can continue to impress when taking a step up in level, then he could become a very valuable asset for the club, so this has the potential to be a very smart piece of business in the long run.
