West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo said Lucas Paquetá will not face Sunderland on Saturday, with Flamengo still pushing to sign the midfielder. Paquetá has expressed to the coach his wish to return to Flamengo.

"É a primeira e última vez que vou falar sobre. Tivemos avanços significativos, mas é uma operação muito difícil", he told GE TV.

The West Ham manager said the situation is unchanged from last week and that the injury will be assessed day by day. The midfielder has been absent from training since then, officially because of back pain.

West Ham are seeking 45 million euros, around R$ 281 million. Flamengo are aiming for 37 million euros plus five million in bonuses, totalling 42 million euros, about R$ 262 million.

Flamengo have already reached agreement on contract details with Paquetá, and now need to match the numbers set by the English club. Further conversations between the parties are expected in the coming days.
