Liga Portugal giants FC Porto and La Liga club Villarreal have made signing West Ham United wantaway centre-back Nayef Aguerd (28) a priority, according to a report this Wednesday from Foot Mercato. The 28-year-old has been pushing for weeks for a move away from the London Stadium. The Morocco international recently rejected the opportunity to sign for Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.
Aguerd featured 28 times across all competitions for the Hammers last season but the arrivals of France international centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman meant the former Stade Rennais would be playing a peripheral role, if any, under the tutelage of Julen Lopetegui. Aguerd signed for West Ham from Rennes in a €35m move, putting pen to paper over a five-year contract set to expire in 2027. The outlet understands that, apart from Porto and Villarreal, a major European club is monitoring Aguerd’s situation.
