West Ham United are closing in on a permanent deal for Adama Traore from Fulham, according to NY Times. James Ward-Prowse has also been given permission to undergo a medical before a loan move to Burnley.

Traore, 30, would be reunited with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, who managed him at Wolverhampton Wanderers between 2018 and 2021.

The attacker has played 15 times for Fulham this season. He is poised to become West Ham’s fourth January addition, following Pablo Felipe’s €20 million (£17.4m, $23.4m) arrival from Gil Vicente, Taty Catellanos from Lazio, and loanee Keiber Lamadrid from Deportivo La Guaira.

Traore has made 262 Premier League appearances, scoring 14 goals and supplying 27 assists.

Ward-Prowse’s switch to Turf Moor is set to run for the rest of the season and will not include an option to buy.

The 31-year-old’s departure was sanctioned by Nuno after just five Premier League outings this campaign, with none since September.

Igor Julio’s season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion is also set to end early, with the 27-year-old returning to the south coast club as left-sided defensive cover.

Nuno’s side are 18th in the table, five points behind Nottingham Forest in 17th. West Ham face Chelsea on Saturday.
