West Ham have completed the loan signing of attacking midfielder Divine Mukasa from Manchester City.
The 18-year-old joins on a straight loan with no buy option, becoming West Ham’s sixth summer signing, rejoining the club where he began his career.
He follows Keiber Lamadrid, Joël Veltman, Manor Solomon, Arne Engels and striker Joël Piroe.
Upon rejoining the club, Mukasa said, “I’m so excited to be back. Just excited to get playing again, really. Once I heard of the opportunity to come back, it was a no-brainer for me. “I grew up in Dagenham, probably about 20-25 minutes from here (Rush Green training ground). My first football team was Euro Dagenham. That’s where it all started for me before coming to West Ham.
“I was born around here and have grown up in the Academy and spent nearly ten years there.”
Born in Newham, Mukasa joined West Ham at the age of five in 2013. He impressed in the youth setup and featured for the U18s and U21s at the ages of 15 and 16. He was also part of the U18 side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2023.
In September 2023, Manchester City agreed a deal to sign Mukasa from the Hammers, ending his 10-year stay with the club.
Interestingly, Mukasa made his Premier League debut against his former club last season, coming off the bench in Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over West Ham in December 2025.
He made six appearances for City’s first team before being loaned out to Leicester City for the remainder of last season.
During his time with the Foxes, he made 16 appearances, 15 of them coming in the Championship. The 18-year-old scored twice and provided three assists, but Leicester endured a difficult campaign as they were relegated to League One.
Speaking on his loan spell in the East Midlands, Mukasa said, “I think it was really valuable, especially the situation that the club was in [fighting against relegation]. I think I learnt a lot and it was good to play as well. Also, I got quite a few games there, so it was good to have that experience.”
In June, Mukasa signed a new long-term deal with the eight-time Premier League champions. City’s director of football Hugo Viana stated that they ‘see a lot of potential in him’.
Mukasa returns to the club where his footballing journey began with the chance to gain valuable first-team minutes, while West Ham benefit from adding a player with Championship and Premier League experience as they aim to return to the Premier League on their first attempt.
