West Ham are interested in a possible deal for Adama Traore in January, according to journalist Rob Dorsett.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo previously described him as ‘unique’ and would welcome the opportunity to work with him again.
Traore has speed to burn down the flanks and would be a terrific addition to the West Ham squad. He could provide competition for Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen.
He has struggled to break into Fulham’s first team this season, but could find his groove under a manager who trusts him.
The West Ham links to Traore appear concrete, and there is every chance of them getting a deal over the line.
However, West Ham cannot afford to rest on their laurels. The club’s disastrous summer transfer window has left glaring holes across the pitch.
They lack depth in central defence, the midfield is too often overrun, and the frontline doesn’t score enough.
If Nuno is to steer the Hammers clear of relegation danger, significant reinforcements are required in January. Relying solely on Traore will not be enough.
West Ham need a balanced rebuild, not another patchwork fix, and the board must back their manager decisively in the winter transfer window.
Failure to act with urgency could see the club struggle to escape the relegation zone in the second half of the season.
