West Ham fans last saw their team win at home against Newcastle over six years ago.
Since March 2019, Newcastle United have won four and drawn two when visiting the Hammers.
Reading through the comments below from West Ham fans, the vast majority see that as having little chance of changing on Sunday.
The Hammers having lost all four Premier League home matches this season, conceding 12 goals in this quartet of defeats.
Whilst it is over eight months since West Ham fans last saw their team win in February at the London Stadium, against a Leicester side all but relegated already.
Some great gallows humour from these West Ham fans and whilst I do have sympathy for them, here’s hoping that Newcastle United deliver the kind of result that most of the Hammers fans appear to think is all but inevitable on Sunday.
West Ham fans commenting via their Knees Up Mother Brown message board:
‘Snap your hand off for a draw. sadly we will be pumped again at home by this lot. just too good, too quick, too physical, too good for our lot.
Looking online there are thousands of seats left but no doubt they will post 62500 sell out. do we have the attendance for brentford yet ?
I hope we don’t get any injuries as this lot are a tough and rough side;everything we are not .
joelinton woltenade bruno burn shar botman are all big units and will be loving a corner against kilman and co !
I was getting a bit more optimistic but back to my original scoreline WHU 0 newcastle 6′
‘You are right about how strong that Newcastle side are physically.
Our midfield does look incredibly weak even with Magassa in there.’
‘How have we managed to assemble such a God awful team of players ?’
‘I genuinely believe we can turn things around if Nuno picks the right team and the players do their jobs. ‘
‘My faith in Nuno is totally gone after last week. Two of the most incompetent line-ups we’ve put out in living memory.
I’m not saying sack him, he’s here now and he gets the season, but he’s got to show he knows what he’s got here.’
‘I think we win….
This is a turning point of the season and we really turn up.
The German (Fullkrug) gets 9 goals between Xmas and end of season.’
‘I’ll have whatever he’s having.’
‘My worry is that the Geordie German gets 9 between now and Monday.’
‘Newcastle are a very physically dominant side. Kind of a Poundland version of Arsenal right now. They’ll stroll past the midfield with ease imo.
I also want to see Potts in the side but not sure this will be the right game for him. In all honesty, I can’t think of a line up that doesn’t result in a defeat.’
‘Do struggle to watch LS matches, even on TV. So will just be checking the score at FT for this, fully expecting the worst.’
‘Do you think Toom fans will think Wilson’s bound to score?’
‘I wouldn’t have thought it has crossed their minds.’
‘I have no doubt that we’ll concede.
But we’ll score too.
I’m still going for a confidence building draw.’
‘Apologies if this has already been posted, but has anyone seen the new YouTube training video? Maybe I’m overreacting, but it’s honestly embarrassing. The morale looks rock bottom, the players come across like a bunch of strangers thrown together. We’re down… there’s just no character in that squad whatsoever. I’m genuinely surprised the PR team thought it was a good idea to upload it,’
‘Embarrassing is the word I’d use too, the training match looked like a kick about you’d have with your mates, no intensity, no working on shape, players not being drilled in defending set pieces….there seemed to be very little input from the coaches, and where was Nuno? Has he checked out already and now spends his days at Rush Green having a nap in his office like Avram?
We truly are a zombie club shambling mindlessly towards the inevitable end.’
‘Come the game we will have to work double hard to close out their midfield and stop the ball getting wide. They’ve got a German Andy Carroll who is currently taking the pi.. out of anyone who doesn’t stop the ball being crossed in.
They work hard with and without the ball and play through the thirds very very fast given the space and time.
Their defence isn’t all that so I would bank on Bowen for a goal and if he plays Wilson we have half a chance as he will be motivated.’
‘Newcastle will be looking to fill their boots.
Can easily see them scoring 5 or more.
Sad times. Sunday could be soul destroying.’
‘One of the best midfields in the country against the absolute worst.Newcastle have the option of picking,Bruno,Joelinton and Tonali in midfield. All three physical players with real quality who can do everything a midfielder is expected to do.’
‘Just heard that Newcastle have yet to win away so far this season. F…ing great.’
‘That’s fine. It’s been a full calendar year since we won at home on a weekend.’
‘Newcastle look good tonight against Spurs, Woltemade is mustard.’

‘Must admit I am feeling very anxious , even frightened about the Sunday match. They have pace and strength and are better than us in every position . They’ve basically rested Linton, Gordon , Guimaraes, Murphy, Pope, Botman, Osula.’
‘A team of athletic, powerful giants who play on the front foot and are excellent at set pieces. God help us.’
‘While Nuno absolutely takes blame for our last 2 line ups/performances, this is the sort of game where you realise whoever the manager is gets left hamstrung. I have no idea what we can do to nullify any of their threats. What we have available just doesn’t stand up (on paper at least). This is why those performances and results against teams who aren’t as good as that have hurt.
We need a lucky day and an off day from them.’
‘Would Newcastle ever dream of signing Ward Prowse, Walker Peters, Hermansen, Summerville, Fulkrug, Fernandes, Kilman, Irving or Rodriguez?
‘Newcastle can’t be that brilliant if they haven’t won away yet.
So far, away from home, they’ve dropped points against Brighton, Bournemouth, Leeds, and Villa … so clearly it’s quite possible to pick up points against them.’
‘I don’t think that Waldemort guy, or whatever his name is, is all that tbh, but at 6ft 6″, they are going to take advantage of his height and get on the end of most, if not every high balls into our box. I think it will be carnage, tbh.’
‘Well I was starting to feel a bit better about us and only saw us losing 3-0 but after watching them last night and knowing who will be starting for them I fear a big big defeat. 6-0 is lodged in my head and its not a nice feeling.
how do we deal with burn, woltenade, shar, botman joe linton at corners ? then add in the snidey gordon and barnes plus bruno and tomali in midfield.
looks like as usual the best part of the match day experience will be in spoons and the carpenters ! going to be a long day and thats before the sit in!’
Bruno, Joe Linton and Tomali…
‘Howe’s always had our number and they look decent lately.
it’s also a home match so most likely 0-4 with a callum wilson own goal thrown in for fun.’
‘Not sure what is going to happen.
Head says an absolute tonking with everyone at sixes and sevens. again.
Heart says a 1-0 win
Confidence is at all time low. Team is not a team. On the last game, did I hear the commentary say the West Ham players were arguing with each other (might have been after the 1st goal). Manager picking players and putting them in different positions to what they normally play. Subs all over the place.
Positives was when we brought on Wilson, we had a bit more of a shape. Then again, its not like we gave him chance after chance to score.’
‘If they play Barnes against us , then we’re toast.’
‘Joelinton’s the one. Never used to rate him, but do now.’
‘Is Igor any good?
If he has a bit of aggression in him and is not afraid of a tussle can he go in instead of Kilman who should be given a break, must have no confidence left and just seems weak, that Woltemade lad will have him for breakfast on current form, Todibo is not much better but has played less.
Fear a tanking could be coming with their pace, physicality and Gordon sh..housery.’
‘Newcastle are a decent enough side. They’ve got some steel in the middle of the park, something we have lacked , and might be in a bit of a false position, which shows how hard it is to climb the table after a poor start.’
