Bowen sustained injury in defeat to Liverpool and is set of spell on the sidelines
West Ham have been dealt a major injury blow after scans confirmed Jarrod Bowen faces a long spell out with a fractured foot.
Bowen sustained the injury in the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday and losing him is a huge setback for Julen Lopetegui.
The 28-year-old West Ham captain has been in brilliant form and is their top scorer this season with five Premier League goals and four assists. He recently signed a new long-term contract.
West Ham have not put a timescale on how long Bowen will be out for but he looks set to miss a large chunk of the remainder of the season.
A West Ham statement read: “West Ham United can confirm Jarrod Bowen sustained a fractured foot injury in Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool.
“The injury to his left foot, picked up in the first half at London Stadium, will sideline the Hammers captain heading into the New Year.”
West Ham are 13th in the Premier League, eight points above the bottom three, and Lopetegui faced anger from fans after the dismal defeat to Liverpool.
Lopetegui is already without Michail Antonio, who has been discharged from hospital more than three weeks after sustaining a broken leg in a car accident.
Antonio has had surgery on a lower limb fracture following the crash on December 7.
