West Ham United battered Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in the Premier League relegation showdown at London Stadium on Friday night.
The visitors made the brighter start and almost had the breakthrough via Andre, but he dragged his effort wide before Yerson Mosquera headed wide from a long throw.
At the other end, the hosts were presented with their best chance of the evening as Jarrod Bowen got onto Pablo Fornals’ pass, but his strike was comfortably saved by Jose Sá.
In the 42nd minute, Konstantinos Mavropanos opened the scoring after he met Bowen’s corner with a thumping header.
On the stroke of halftime, the Hammers almost doubled their lead after Taty Castellanos and Pablo linked up to test Sa, but the Portuguese goalkeeper made a fine stop.
Shortly after the restart, the visitors almost pulled one back, but Angel Gomes saw his free kick come off the post before Bowen also struck the post at the other end.
Just past the hour mark, the visitors continued to press for an equaliser and almost got it after Ladislav Krejci met Hugo Bueno’s corner, but he headed wide.
In the 66th minute, Castellanos doubled the Hammers’ advantage, and he teed up with Pablo and slotted his shot beyond Sa.
Two minutes later, Castellanos got his second of the evening after his deflected strike nestled into the net.
Mavropanos completed the scoring in the 83rd minute after he met Bowen’s corner again with a powerful header.
West Ham United have climbed out of the relegation zone, with Tottenham Hotspur dropping into the bottom three ahead of their clash with Sunderland on Sunday.
