West Ham's emphatic home win over bottom-of-the-table Wolves lifted them out of the Premier League drop zone and prompted a major shift in bookmakers’ predicted final table.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the result carries major implications for Leeds United and their rivals after the Hammers began the weekend third-bottom, one point behind Tottenham, three behind Nottingham Forest and four adrift of Leeds.
Playing first on Friday night, the game stayed goalless for 41 minutes before doubles from Taty Castellanos and Konstantinos Mavropanos sealed a 4-0 victory.
The win moved West Ham above Tottenham, leaving Spurs in the relegation zone for the first time this season, two points behind the Hammers. West Ham are level on points with Forest and one behind Leeds.
Tottenham visit Sunderland on Sunday afternoon in Roberto De Zerbi’s first match in charge, while Forest host Aston Villa at 2pm. Leeds go to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night.
