West Ham United defender Tuva Hansen has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The Hammers confirmed the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

The 28-year-old Norwegian international sustained her injury during the World Sevens Football event in Brentford last week. Hansen went down during West Ham United’s group stage game against Aston Villa on Friday and she left the field on a stretcher.

Hansen’s injury has now been assessed by the West Ham United medical team and it has been confirmed that she has ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). The player will visit a specialist to determine the next steps, however, she is likely to be sidelined for the majority of the 2026/2027 campaign.

West Ham United competed in a group alongside Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa at World Sevens Football. The Hammers first lost 5-4 to Manchester United before going down 4-1 to Spurs. Rita Guarino’s side lost their final group stage match 3-2 to Aston Villa as they ended the tournament bottom of their group.

Defender Hansen joined West Ham United from Bayern Munich in the January transfer window and she went on to make eight appearances for the East Londoners in the Barclays Women’s Super League in the second half of the campaign.
