West Ham United are continuing discussions over a proposed move for Fulham attacking midfielder Adama Traore during the winter transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santos is eyeing a reunion with the ‘powerful‘ Spaniard at the London Stadium after their time together at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Hammers need to bolster their attack heading into the second half of the season, and Traore could be perfect for them.
The 29-year-old, once dubbed ‘unstoppable’ by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, is out of contract at the end of the season.
Fulham are ready to cash in now to gain a nominal fee, and the former Barcelona winger could be open to the switch.
He has played 15 games across all competitions this term but has only started three times.
Traore could get to play more regularly at West Ham, and a reunion with Nuno could appeal to him as he played some of his best football under him.
His pace and power will come in handy in the final third for the Hammers, and he will be available for a decent fee.
West Ham have also been linked with Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen as they prepare for life without Niclas Fullkrug.
The German is expected to join AC Milan on loan, and while his Norwegian counterpart will be a direct replacement, a move for Traore also makes sense.
The Hammers boss knows him well and will be confident of getting the best out of him again for the benefit of his side’s Premier League safety.
West Ham are 18th in the league table after 17 games, five points off safety, and they have to strengthen in the final third to boost their chances of staying up at the end of the season.
