The player went off in the 21st minute of the match with Marika Bergman-Lundin coming on in her place.
Gorry’s injury has now been assessed by the West Ham United medical team and it has been confirmed that the player will not feature for the East Londoners again this season. The news is a blow for West Ham United with the club looking to end the campaign strongly.
Commenting on the injury in a West Ham United press conference, manager Rehanne Skinner said “She will be out for the season now unfortunately. She sustained a high ankle injury in the Chelsea game and we are just looking at what the situation is for how that is going to be treated but it’ll definitely be the end of the season for her.”
West Ham United signed Gorry during the January transfer window following a spell playing in Sweden with Vittsjö GIK. The Australian international midfielder has made seven appearances for The Hammers in the Barclays Women’s Super League since her arrival at the club.
Gorry will begin her rehabilitation once she receives the necessary treatment.
