WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Hammers this afternoon.
The 30-year-old joins West Ham United after spending the first half of the season in Italy with AS Roma. Hanshaw made 13 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Hanshaw spent the early days of her senior playing career in her native Austria. She turned out for Landhaus Vienna before moving to Germany where she played for regional clubs Herfoder SV and Cloppenburg. Two-year spells with SC Freiburg and SC Sand followed before Hanshaw joined Eintracht Frankfurt where she spent six years until moving to Italy last summer.
On the international stage, Hanshaw has been capped by Austria on 110 occasions.
After joining West Ham United, Hanshaw said “This is a big opportunity for me and I’m really happy to be here. I see a lot of qualities within the Club and this team. Having spoken with Rehanne [Skinner], as well as my good friends Sheki [Martinez] and Hawa [Cissoko], I had a good feeling about joining West Ham – everything felt right.
“I am a big team player and will always work hard for the team. I’ve heard a lot about the fans and how supportive and passionate they are, and I’m ready to push myself to do the Club and the fans proud.”
Hanshaw is West Ham United’s first signing of the January transfer window.
