West Ham United’s sporting director Mark Noble does not have his own office and plays no part in recruiting players, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Noble’s initial focus after retiring from playing was to help the Hammers keep their English top-flight status at the end of the 2022-23 season.
West Ham ultimately finished 14th in the table, six points away from the drop zone. They also qualified for the Europa League after winning the Europa Conference League.
Noble then focused on the club’s academy, and West Ham have won the FA Youth Cup and Under-18 Premier League Cup since then.
While his involvement in first-team planning is now limited, he speaks to new players and new coaches about West Ham and regularly offers his support.
He also speaks regularly to Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen and will be desperate to help in any way he can as the team looks to avoid relegation.
West Ham are 18th in the table following an underwhelming start to the season, which has yielded just two league victories.
Nuno Espirito Santo succeeded Graham Potter as manager in September, but has failed to trigger an improvement.
However, he will fancy his chances of heading into the international break with a victory when Burnley visit the London Stadium on Saturday.
There will be a protest march against West Ham chairman David Sullivan and vice-chairman Karren Brady before the game, and Nuno will be hoping it does not impact the team’s performance.
