In a packed Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, one person watching on as Arsenal eased past Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 was Mohammed Kudus.

An Arsenal fan shared a photo of the player in attendance in club level, claiming that the 24-year-old was there to support the Gunners.

A Ghana international, it’s likely Kudus was mostly there to support his teammate Thomas Partey, and also to watch a game between two of Europe’s top clubs.

But it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kudus was there to watch Arsenal, particularly given the links between himself and the club before he joined West Ham.

During the summer of 2023, Kudus was regularly linked with Arsenal, and there have been some suggestions that the reason he only moved to West Ham at the end of August was because he was holding out for the Gunners to make their move.

That never really happened, despite Kudus confirming there was at least some contact from Arsenal.

The 24-year-old might still be hoping that Arsenal will make a move for him eventually, despite his long-term contract in east London.

To put it politely, West Ham have had a poor start to the season.

From their eight games so far, they’ve won twice, and one of those was a second-round League Cup win prior to their elimination by Liverpool a few weeks later.

In the Premier League, the Hammers have just one win, over Crystal Palace – one of few teams performing even worse than they are.

Kudus has had his own part to play in that, with only one assist and no goals in eight appearances. That’s a significant drop-off from the 25 goals and assists he managed in 48 matches last season.

Even so, you could understand if Kudus feels a bit unhappy at his current club right now.

Whether that has anything to do with his appearance at the Emirates Stadium is another matter.
