A fierce London derby is set for Saturday evening as West Ham United host Tottenham Hotspur.
The match marks the beginning of a new era for the visitors, who play their first game since the departure of chairman Daniel Levy. Spurs head into the 5:30 pm kick-off looking to bounce back from their first defeat under new manager Thomas Frank.
West Ham, meanwhile, are buoyed by their first win of the season and a strong home record in this fixture, having not lost in their last five league meetings against Spurs at the London Stadium.
Graham Potter is contending with a striker crisis. New signing Niclas Füllkrug is out for up to a month with a calf injury. He joins Luis Guilherme and George Earthy on the sidelines. There is some positive news, however, as Crysencio Summerville is available and pushing for a start after a surprise early return from injury.
Thomas Frank has several long-term absentees, including James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski. On a more positive note, captain Cristian Romero has returned early from international duty.
In addition, striker Dominic Solanke could be fit enough to feature. New signings Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani are also in contention for their debuts.
After a difficult start with heavy defeats to Sunderland and Chelsea, the Hammers found form with a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
That victory saw a significant improvement in their attacking play, as they registered eight shots on target. Furthermore, they can draw great confidence from their home record against Spurs, having not lost in the last five league meetings at the London Stadium.
Spurs’ perfect start to the season was ended by a 1-0 home defeat to Bournemouth. Thomas Frank’s side must now contend with their poor record in London derbies.
They have lost 10 of their last 16 capital clashes and have kept just one clean sheet in their last 21. A victory, however, would see Frank become only the third Spurs manager to win his first two away league games in charge.
West Ham United predicted XI: Hermansen; Walker-Peters, Mavropanos, Kilman, Diouf; Ward-Prowse, Soucek; Fernandes, Paqueta, Summerville; Bowen
Tottenham Hotspur predicted XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Palhinha, Bentancur; Kudus, Sarr, Simons; Richarlison
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League in the UK. Coverage begins at 5 pm BST.
