West Ham United are interested in recruiting the services of Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman this summer as they prepare for life without Mohammed Kudus, according to Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Hammers star is expected to leave the London Stadium club this summer amid strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham have identified the 27-year-old Nigerian international as a potential replacement.
It could take around €60 million for suitors to sign the Atalanta star, but the Irons would have the funds to complete a deal once Kudus joins Spurs.
West Ham see Lookman as perfect for them after he weighed in with 17 goals and ten assists in 2023-24 and 20 goals and seven assists in 2024-25, but they will face competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid for his services.
The London-born forward has Premier League experience having featured for Everton, Fulham and Leicester City, and a return to England could appeal to him as he has unfinished business in the top-flight.
Lookman has just 11 goals and six assists in 96 Premier League games, and he will be desperate to prove himself if he gets the chance to return.
West Ham could give him that opportunity, and his ability to play on both wings and as a striker makes him appealing to manager Graham Potter.
His strengths include finishing, dribbling, passing, taking set-pieces and holding on to the ball, and he has what it takes to hit the ground running having garnered much-needed experience since moving to Serie A.
The 2024 African Footballer of the Year proved himself as a big-game player in the final of the Europa League last year, scoring a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen, and he has continued to impress, making the Serie A Team of the Season at the end of 2024-25.
