Chelsea are still being heavily linked with a move for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, with talks rumbling on in the background as the Blues prepare for the new season.
According to most sources, a deal is already agreed with the Argentine winger, it’s just a case of getting a fee sorted with the Red Devils.
They’ve spent big on a new attacking line after a horrible few years, and want to make some money back. Selling the unhappy Garnacho is an obvious move for them, and it seems we’re just waiting it out and hoping they get desperate and drop the price.
But why would we want their cast-offs when we’ve already got such a crop of attacking talent? The London is Blue podcast took a look at his numbers to try and find something positive:

“Garnacho in the last two seasons, has played 108 games for Manchester United, presenter Dan Dorner pointed out.
“He played almost 3600 minutes two seasons ago, he played 3600 minutes last season. Two seasons ago he had 10 goals, 5 assists. Last season 11 goals, 10 assists. He went from 3.36 shots per 90 minutes two seasons ago to 3.68. So if you’re saying ‘hey, why should I like this?’ – volume shooters, who shoot on target (he had basically 1.3 shots on target per 90) put you in a position to score and win games.
“I’m not trying to say I love the deal, I’m just trying to say if he’s going to be a Chelsea player, we’ve got to find something to like about it.

There’s no doubting that Garnacho has some talent, and that he could be a good value pickup. But it’s going to take us more than some simple shot numbers to convince us of that.
