  • Enzo Maresca has issued his first response to questions around Jack Grealish’s Manchester City future.
  • The Englishman is back training at the City Football Academy after a season-long loan at Everton.
  • Despite a change of manager at the Etihad Stadium, the feeling remains that Grealish will be moved on this summer.

Enzo Maresca has revealed his personal relationship and admiration for the human side of Jack Grealish, who has recently returned to Manchester City.

The Italian tactician has been tasked with being the club’s next manager following Pep Guardiola’s exit from the club at the end of last season, bringing an end to a decade of success at the Etihad Stadium.

With 20 trophies claimed under the Catalan’s guidance, Enzo Maresca’s challenge is one of significant magnitude, although there is confidence within the club’s hierarchy that he has the credentials to steady the ship and steer it into a new era.

With several names facing uncertain futures this summer following the arrival of a new coaching team headed by Maresca, one named awaiting a decision and clarity on his next steps is Jack Grealish.

The England international returns to Manchester City recovering from a foot stress fracture whilst on loan at Everton, having endured a hugely positive up-turn in form whilst working under David Moyes at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

“I feel back home” – Enzo Maresca hails Man City organisational stability in first press conference as manager

What has Enzo Maresca said on Grealish’s future?

Now, speaking during his first press conference as Manchester City manager, Enzo Maresca has been quizzed on the future of Jack Grealish, following his return to the club’s training ground this week.

“At the moment he’s here! He’s a Man City player,” said Maresca.

The Italian continued, “I always say the same, in any club I’ve joined, if there are players that belong to the club, it’s my duty to try to coach them.

“Jack, at the moment, is here, I’ve had a good relation with Jack since I left, we’ve kept in touch.

“And the reason why is because he has a big heart, and he’s a very good guy. And we’ll see what happens.”

What is the most likely outcome for Jack Grealish?

With Jack Grealish continuing to work with Manchester City’s first-team and building up his fitness, it is most likely that he will travel with the group to the Far-East for their pre-season tour of Asia starting next week.

Enzo Maresca and his largely youthful City squad are due to take on a trio of matches in Hong Kong and South Korea, starting with a clash against Italian champions Inter, before facing K-League All Stars and Atletico Madrid.

It is likely that total clarity will emerge concerning Grealish’s future in time for the FA Community Shield against Arsenal on August 16, with Everton still expected to revisit the idea of bringing him back to the club – possibly on a permanent deal.
