Weverton and Balbuena are due to rejoin Grêmio on Monday after World Cup duty with Brazil and Paraguay. According to Globo.com, the pair will report to the CT Luiz Carvalho in time for the club’s competitive restart.
Luís Castro’s side visit Mirassol on Friday, 17 July, at 20:00 at the Maião in the 19th round of the Brasileirão. If there are no fitness issues, both could be available for a match that falls two days before the World Cup final.
At his second World Cup, Weverton did not feature as Brazil went out to Norway in the last 16 on Sunday. The 38-year-old ends his Brazil career with two World Cup appearances in the squad and the 2016 Olympic gold.
Balbuena made his World Cup debut for Paraguay and was used only late in extra time against Germany in the last 32. He came on for the shootout and missed his kick, but Paraguay advanced before losing to France in the last 16 on Saturday.
Before the official restart, Grêmio play their final mid-season friendly on Sunday against Cruzeiro at the Mané Garrincha in Brasília, with kick-off at 17:00.
