Football League World asked AI what it thinks would happen if Frank Lampard leaves Coventry City and joins Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace have reportedly eyed a move for Coventry City boss Frank Lampard, while it remains uncertain whether Oliver Glasner will see the season out at Selhurst Park.

Lampard is enjoying a successful season in charge of the Sky Blues, who have established themselves as front-runners to win promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Glasner led the Eagles to a historic campaign last term, guiding his club to FA Cup glory and a place in the Europa Conference League.

Having previously managed in the Premier League with both Chelsea and Everton, Lampard could be on for a quicker-than-expected top-flight return, despite Coventry vying for promotion and looking set for the top-flight for the first time since 2001.

Frank Lampard departure would disrupt Coventry City's promotion push

Amid growing tensions between Glasner and the Premier League club's board, Lampard is on Palace's list of managerial replacements for the Austrian.

With that in mind, Football League World asked ChatGPT what would happen if the 47-year-old traded the Sky Blues for the Eagles.

The AI tool suggested that if Lampard left the Championship outfit in favour of Palace, Coventry would be hit hard by the situation, as their manager would have departed mid-project.

ChatGPT adds that the Sky Blues' promotion-chasing momentum would be stalled, and that the CBS Arena club would initially be forced into making a pragmatic caretaker manager appointment.

Furthermore, it says that much of Lampard’s squad-building would be reassessed, particularly loanees and younger players brought in for his system.

Amid their bid to seal a long-awaited return to the Premier League, Coventry have signed Yang Min-Hyeok and Romain Esse on loan from Tottenham and Palace, respectively.

Meanwhile, from Palace's point of view, ChatGPT believes that if Lampard replaced Glasner, the former Chelsea midfielder's arrival in South London would cause a media buzz and optimism, especially with the Selhurst Park faithful being keen on progressive, front-footed football.

The AI tool also believes that Glasner's back-three system would be replaced by a back four, with Lampard adding emphasis on possession, midfield runners, and attacking full-backs.

Frank Lampard should favour staying at Coventry City for now

While ChatGPT believes that a move from Coventry to Crystal Palace would create optimism at Selhurst Park, Lampard should favour staying at the CBS Arena for now.

The ex-England star has endured a mixed managerial career to date, having guided Derby County to the Championship play-off final back in 2019.

Lampard's Rams were ultimately defeated by Aston Villa at Wembley, but the eventual Coventry boss still did enough at Pride Park to convince Chelsea to hand him the managerial reins.

Even though the Blues were then under a transfer embargo, the Englishman guided them to a top-four finish in the 2019/20 Premier League season, finishing level on points with third-place Manchester United.

The 2020/21 season was a worse story for Lampard, though, who was sacked by the Stamford Bridge club in January 2021.

He made a return to management in January 2022, this time joining Everton, who narrowly avoided relegation under his stewardship before sacking the former Chelsea man a year later.

While Lampard's managerial record remains a mixed bag, he should be focused on creating history with Coventry by steering them to the Premier League, rather than joining Palace if they part company with Glasner before the end of the season.
