Social media was full of praise for the ex-Liverpool prospect after Tuesday night's game against the Tigers

Another strong midfield display by Bobby Clark in Derby County’s 2-1 victory over Hull City on Tuesday night continues to leave Rams fans buzzing.

The 20-year-old has become increasingly influential in the Championship - as he started his third consecutive game in the middle of the park alongside David Ozoh.

More so in the first half, the pair controlled the tempo of the game very well, with Clark’s technical ability combining with Ozoh’s physicality once again. Given that both are on loan, from RB Salzburg and Crystal Palace respectively, they look very comfortable playing together.

After a somewhat difficult period earlier in the season when he played in either a more attacking role or on the left flank, manager John Eustace has certainly found Clark's most effective position.

How Derby County fans reacted to Bobby Clark's performance against Hull City

With the Rams now in 11th, specifically two points out of the playoff places, they've managed more points in their last four games - 12 - then in their first ten altogether, eight.

The social media reaction to Clark's display against Hull made clear that Derby supporters have recognised his change of form since settling into his preferred position - and it doesn't seem to matter that he hasn't scored or assisted in 13 league games.

One fan highlighted Clark as their Man of the Match, whilst others praised the partnership between Clark and Ozoh specifically, noting they had the "midfield ticking over lovely."

The appreciation extended to Clark's tireless running as well, with one supporter pointing out that he was still "sprinting at 90 minutes" - an observation that shows his commitment to the Eustace cause.

Earlier in the season, it’s fair to say there were some slight concerns about the best way to use Clark given his lack of impact in the more attacking positions he had previously occupied.

However, he seems far better suited to the second tier when tasked with controlling possession and providing security to the back three. Seeing as he was first brought into the side against QPR because of Ebou Adams’ suspension - and Lewis Travis’ injury, Eustace has a tough call to make when they’re all available.

Derby County will be wishing Celtic don't come calling for Bobby Clark in January

Of course, Scottish champions Celtic have been linked with a move for the midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

Reports from The Times suggested the Scottish side have already agreed a deal worth £6m for Clark, with Brendan Rodgers viewed as the driving force behind the potential move.

Following Rodgers' surprise resignation from Celtic at the end of October though, Derby fans will probably now be hoping that it won’t be happening - and Eustace has already made clear his desire to retain Clark for the remainder of the season.

As the East Midlands outfit look ahead to their fixture against Blackburn Rovers this weekend, the partnership between Clark and Ozoh may once again be relied upon.

The positivity surrounding Clark among the fan base shows genuine optimism about his potential as a Championship player this season. Should the midfielder continue to develop at this rate, Celtic might still want to buy him though - regardless of the fact Rodgers is no longer there.
