On the pitch, Manchester City have started the new Premier League season with two wins from two games. Pep Guardiola’s side look set for another big campaign as they chase a fifth consecutive Premier League title. But off the pitch, the transfer window is set to close at the end of this week. The window will slam shut at 23:00 on the 30th of August. Here is a look at what could be in store for Manchester City over the final week of the transfer window.

Incomings

It appears unlikely that Manchester City will make any major signings during the final week of the transfer window. The champions look to have a well-rounded squad following the arrival of Ilkay Gundogan last week.

One potential area where the champions may strengthen is up front. As reported by Sam Lee for the Athletic last week there is some interest from Manchester City in signing Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic. That is an area that does appear to need another addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. It will be interesting to see if the champions do move for the Japanese international this week.

One signing that should be made official this week is Manchester City’s signing of Divin Mubama from West Ham. Fabrizio Romano has reported via X that the youngster is set to move to the world champions. But he appears to be more of a signing for City’s youth set-up rather than an addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Departures

On the departure front, the future of Joao Cancelo seems to be the major concern for Manchester City this week. With the transfer window set to close on August 30 Cancelo is fast running out of options as to where he could play for the 24/25 season. The champions will be hoping to secure a move for Cancelo this week. It appears that Al Hilal or Barcelona are the only two suitors for Joao Cancelo at this stage. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Al Hilal are in negotiations with Cancelo’s camp. He adds that Barcelona also have an interest in signing the full-back but they are yet to make an official offer for his signature.

One player who will leave Manchester City for this season is Maximo Perrone. The young midfielder will spend the 24/25 season on loan at Como. The move was confirmed today by both Como and Manchester City.

Could there also be a surprise departure from Manchester City this week? A new report suggests that City will entertain offers for Matheus Nunes. Wayne Veysey has reported for footballinsider247.com that Manchester City would accept a sizable offer for Nunes. But Veysey’s report doesn’t include any club that could be interested in signing the Portuguese international.

Summary

It would appear that this week could be a busy one for Manchester City. Securing a move for Joao Cancelo looks to be City’s biggest priority this week. If a club does offer the champions a sizable fee for Matheus Nunes they may also sell the Portuguese international. But that scenario doesn’t appear to be an imminent possibility.

As for any major arrivals Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic could be the only major arrival for the champions this week. The champions appear to have done the majority of their business in terms of arrivals and look to be in a comfortable position in terms of squad depth for the 24/25 season.
