Daniel Farke’s full-time salute told its own story after Leeds United were pegged back late at Aston Villa. They were heading for a first Premier League away win since September until Tammy Abraham equalised with about a minute of normal time remaining.

Anton Stach stunned Villa with a long-range free-kick around an hour earlier, Jayden Bogle celebrating in disbelief. Leeds Live highlights several telling moments from a fraught afternoon at Villa Park.

Leeds have now conceded 14 league goals from the 75th minute onwards, the most of any side, and the late blow left players holding heads and hands on knees. Unlike November’s Elland Road defeat by Villa when a few boos met him, Farke was backed here as the away end gave a warm ovation despite the sting.

Farke, clearly irritated by the equaliser, still raised his arms three times to acknowledge the travelling support, a gesture he tends to reserve for wins. Unai Emery offered kind words before kick-off and wrote in his programme notes of his admiration and respect.

Early on, James Justin smiled wryly after a soft fall for a free-kick was ignored, while Leeds’ line caught several offsides. Farke also allowed wide centre-halves Pascal Struijk and Justin to step into midfield to track Emiliano Buendia or Morgan Rogers, with the rest holding shape.

Karl Darlow’s shout for Jayden Bogle to leave a long ball was ignored, Buendia missed and Darlow’s glare said it all. Before kick-off, Lucas Perri produced a round-the-world keepy-uppy, sprinklers soaked staff at the placard arch, and the away end jeered the pyrotechnics then sang all afternoon.
