Pyramids coach Krunoslav Jurcic praised his team’s 3-0 victory over RS Berkane in CAF Champions League group stage.

Big statement in the Group Stage

Pyramids head coach Krunoslav Jurcic described his side’s strong win against Morocco’s RS Berkane as important moment in their CAF Champions League campaign.

The Egyptian club secured clear 3-0 victory in matchday 4 of the group stage boosting their position and improving their chances ahead of the final two round.

Speaking after the match, Jurcic said the result showed the “true strength” of Pyramids and confirmed the team’s ability to compete at high level in African football.

“A Win Against a Team With Continental Experience”

Jurcic stressed that the match was not easy pointing out that Berkane are major club with strong experience in continental competitions.

He said defeating such an opponent by three goal proves the technical quality of his squad and sends message that Pyramids can be serious contenders in this year’s tournament.

The coach added that the win gives his team more comfort going into the last two group game, with their standing now much stronger than before.

Domestic games can be harder, says coach

Interestingly Jurcic also explained that league matches at home can sometimes be more difficult than African fixtures.

He said facing lower-ranked teams often brings different pressure because Pyramids are expected to dominate and win while opponents tend to defend deep and play with fewer risks.

According to the coach, these matches can sometimes be more dangerous than playing against big clubs in Africa.

Player fitness and Mayele’s importance

Jurcic also spoke about the condition of his squad admitting that several players still need time to reach full fitness & sharpness.

He explained that international duty has disrupted preparation for some players especially those who joined their national teams during major tournaments.

One player highlighted was Congolese striker Fiston Mayele whom Jurcic described as a key part of the team and constant danger in front of goal.

The coach said Mayele performed well against Berkane alongside Nasser Maher but noted that limited minutes with Congo at AFCON affected his match readiness, similar to earlier in the season when he missed parts of pre-season training.

Jurcic concluded by saying that all players will get chances in the upcoming period.

He stressed that every player must take their opportunity and prove they deserve starting place.
