Out of nowhere, Elliot Anderson has become the talk of the Premier League.
The Nottingham Forest midfielder has suddenly emerged as one of the finest talents the English football scene has to offer.
Dubbed a complete midfielder, Anderson can play any role in the centre of the park. His precision on the ball, ability to distribute with both simple passes and incisive through balls, and knack for making impactful runs from deep make him a manager’s dream.
Manchester United, keen to reinforce their engine room, have identified the 22-year-old as a dream target.
But they are not alone. Newcastle, Manchester City, and even Real Madrid are reportedly contemplating a move for the Premier League standout.
Aware that their man is fast becoming one in demand, he is a “wanted man”, Forest have responded to the persistent exit chatter.
They have slapped a hefty asking price of between £100m and £120m on Anderson’s head.
The valuation is designed to ward off suitors and, ideally, help Forest retain him until the summer transfer window, avoiding a winter exit.
While the fee required to seal a deal is clear and the timing increasingly obvious, the question remains: what does the player himself make of links to top clubs like United?
Teamtalk offers some insight.
They reveal: “Anderson himself is said to be flattered by the interest but remains fully focused on Forest and his form, where he has settled quickly and earned rave reviews.”
“Sources [are] confirming his eagerness to secure a move that aligns with his career ambitions following a standout season.”
Anderson’s openness to a move next year should encourage his suitors.
With the ex-Newcastle man flattered by the attention, his final decision may well hinge on which club best sells their project.
United will hope it is them. They will be banking on the midfielder seeing” Ruben Amorim’s project as the one that truly aligns with his long-term ambitions.
In Anderson, Amorim may finally get his hands on the dynamic midfielder he so desperately wanted last summer.
The Englishman’s fighting spirit and physicality could lay the foundation for United’s sustained dominance.
