One moment from Estevao left Liam Rosenior “seething”, but sadly the problem is way bigger than just a lack of discipline.

Bobby Vincent was covering Chelsea’s game against Man City for Football.London, and he noticed one thing that sent Liam Rosenior bananas:

“The Chelsea head coach turned around with a seething look on his face after a completely unnecessary caution for Estevao,” who had been booked for kicking the ball away petulantly after being caught offside.

A lack of discipline and maturity in those moments is without doubt a big problem – we just wish it was the only one.

Chelsea can’t be relying on teenage winger to save them

That felt like pretty much the same time we even saw Estevao on screen. The winger was totally out of the game after that, with Chelsea unable to advance the ball at all in the second period.

That’s not on him – we shouldn’t be relying on a teenage winger in his first season in European football in a game like this, especially after the money we’ve spent on wingers alone. But the fact he’s a “must start” illustrates what a disaster this whole thing is.

In other news…

Eidur Gudjohnsen’s rant after the game has been very popular with Chelsea fans as it sums up a lot of the club’s problems right now.

ESPN was a good place to go for coverage of Chelsea’s disaster – Julien Laurens had some stinging criticism of Liam Rosenior.
