An insight into the impact of Frenkie de Jong’s injury setback on the immediate future of Barcelona teammate Marc Casadó has been provided.

This comes by way of the assurance that the Spaniard remains very much up for sale.

Midfielder Casadó has of course been heavily linked with a move away from the Camp Nou this summer. Out of the plans of Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, the 22-year-old has been identified as a necessary source of funds by Deco and the Blaugrana brass.

The discovery of the extent of the injury suffered by fellow midfielder Frenkie de Jong – the Dutchman could miss four months of action – had given rise to suggestions that Barca could alter their stance on Casadó, to act as insurance in the middle of the park for the first half of the new season.

This, however, has not proven to be the case. As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘The setback that losing De Jong during the first third of the season could represent for Barça does not alter the plans the club has for Casadó, who remains on the exit ramp for this summer transfer window.’
