Football League World looks at how AI believes Ipswich Town's next badge could look like

Although many club badges have transformed over the years, Ipswich Town's has largely stood the test of time.

No shortage of clubs both domestically and continentally have undertaken radical changes to their official badges in a more modernised, commerically-appealling approach, yet Ipswich's badge has not changed a touch since 1995.

The Tractor Boys' old badge from 1972 to 1995 was still markedly similar to the current one, albeit with a yellow outline as opposed to Ipswich's now-renowned red outline and a general look not quite as clean.

But, it had us thinking. How could Ipswich's next badge look? The club do not currently have any plans to change the existing badge, but a change will naturally happen at some stage.

In order to get a potential idea, Football League World asked the AI chatbot, ChatGPT, what Ipswich's next badge may look like.

What AI thinks Ipswich Town's next badge could look like

We asked AI to create a concept of what Town's next badge could potentially look like, and this is what it came back with.

AI's concept is markedly different from the current badge, of course. AI has opted to give the template of a shield to Ipswich's next badge, while also redesigning the colours we associate so strongly with the current crest to a mixture of navy blue and yellow.

Why Ipswich Town has re-designed Ipswich Town's badge this way

After AI produced its version of what Ipswich's next badge may look like, we asked why it had opted for this particular design.

As aforementioned, clubs are increasingly inclined to incorporate a sleeker, more modernised look when producing new badges, and AI has followed this accordingly.

AI described its version as "modern but timeless, and easily adaptable across kits, merch [merchandise] and branding."

Just how much commercial appeal this badge would have to Ipswich supporters is up for debate considering its total difference from the current crest.

It's noticeable that there is much less going on in AI's concept badge, too.

Simpler, less-intricate designs are in with the times now, which is why this version is more simple with fewer patterns to the shape of the badge itself, fewer colours along with the removal of the "Football Club" section at the bottom of Ipswich's current crest.
